Voluntary Bonding Scheme

Māori Oral Health Providers are part of Health Workforce New Zealands Voluntary Bonding Scheme ('the Scheme').  This means that payments are rewarded to eligible new BDS graduates who agree to work in hard-to-staff professions, communities and/or specialties. In addition to your salary, those confirmed on the scheme and who meet the Terms and Conditions will receive the following annual after-tax payments to help repay their student loan or as top-up income.

BDS:  Up to three years Post-Grad. A bond payment of $30,000 (after tax) is available after the completion of a minimum of three years’ service, and up to two additional payments of $10,000 after a fourth year and fifth year.

OHT: Up to three years Post-Grad. A bond payment of $11,796 (after tax) is available after the completion of a minimum of three years’ service, and up to two additional payments of $3,932 after a fourth year and fifth year.
